Welcome to Virtues in Asia
Virtues in Asia offers professional and personal development programs in English focused on The Virtues Project and its five simple strategies. These strategies assist in bringing forth the best in all members of the school community. The five strategies are: Speak the Language of the Virtues, Recognize Teachable Moments, Set Clear Boundaries, Honor the Spirit, and Offer the Art of Spiritual Companioning.
Through the use of these five strategies, schools create caring, safe environments that children require to achieve their best learning. The development of virtues within the school environment supports the growth of dispositions needed by international students to go forward as caring, responsible, discerning global citizens making a powerful difference in the world. International schools shape future leaders of countries around the world. Through the development of their own individual virtues, these students will become leaders that make a profound difference.
Using these five strategies supports learning-focused school environments as less time becomes necessary for classroom management issues. Through interactions based on the integration of these five-strategies, the relationship between teacher and student moves from a mere transactional one to a transformational relationship. The caring, trust and understanding that develops between students and teachers, guides the classroom interactions and builds a class community of respect. An empowered environment is created where learning is authentic, meaningful and alive for both the teacher and the students. Educators will find that they already apply these strategies to some extent. However, the study and practice of The Virtues Project five strategies enhances the foundation we all have and promotes our own development as educators as we strive to bring forth the best in our students.
Using the virtues enables the school community to fulfill its own mission and goals. Gradually, each individual can gain a better insight into themselves, what gives them joy and how they can best contribute to the school community and society as a whole. Implementing the five strategies enables the school community to squarely face its challenges and seek the best outcomes.
