As Ruth Suzuki raised her two sons she felt that all the parenting books
she had turned to were missing something very important. Then just when
her second son had left for university she attended her first Virtues
Project workshop in Seal Beach, California in 1996 with Linda Kavelin Popov
and Dr. Dan Popov. It was then that she found the "tools" in The
Virtues Project that she had sought for so many years. Feeling that it would
have an immense effect on the positive transformation of society she was
determined to learn as much about The Virtues Project in order to share
it in Japan with all who are interested.
Since 1997 she has been conducting workshops primarily in Hokkaido but
also in other parts of Japan. Seeing the need to have the workshops presented
in Japanese by Japanese she has focused on helping Japanese women to become
Virtues Project facilitators by offering regular Virtues Project workshops, Peer
Mentoring workshops, and Facilitator Development workshops.
Ruth, a citizen of the United States, has a Bachelor of Science in Public
Health Nursing and has been living in Hokkaido, Japan for over thirty years
with her Japanese husband. They have an education based business.
"This workshop is really necessary, the basis of every human activity
and I hope it will spread to as many layers of society as possible."
Japanese workshop participant "This workshop was interesting as it
was done bilingually and yet successfully. Thank you for your warm and yet
detached manner of facilitating the workshop."
Japanese workshop participant "I feel that the Virtues Project can
really give Hokkaido International School a structure for its approach to
discipline, counseling and all human interaction." Wayne Rutherford,
Headmaster, Hokkaido International School, Sapporo, Japan
